Cookbook Review #2
Note: I don't have a huge collection of cookbooks, because I get rid of the ones that I don't use. I thought it would be useful to talk about why I like the ones that I keep.
Student's Vegetarian Cookbook by Carole Raymond
This is often one of the most highly recommended vegetarian cookbooks. I have to say that, so far, I have not been that impressed with it. But I haven't owned it very long, so I'm hanging on to it to see if it will grow on me. Mostly, I have trouble with the ingredients they use, because they seem to especially like the few foods that one of us is allergic to! But, they are quick and easy (and cheap) vegetarian recipes, so I would expect that most vegetarians would like this cookbook.
Although I have post-it-notes on several recipes in this cookbook, I've only prepared one so far:
- Whole Wheat Pasta with Arugula (page 173) - I have made this a bunch of times, including last night. (In fact, I make it anytime I can buy a big container/bag of arugula, which seems to come and go randomly from the grocery shelf.) It is absolutely delicious. I like it so much, that I'm going to post it as my next recipe on here. (Just in case my not-so-glowing review makes you hesitant to buy the cookbook; you should still have this recipe.)
